Manajemen Industri Media Online Di Era Persaingan Teknologi Digital Di Kota Batam
Competition or competition between the media industry is undeniable. This
can be seen from the number of mass media that continues to grow from year to
year. However, in general, this development occurs, especially media in the
network (Online) which is called new media using internet transmission. The
presence of this digital technology is able to increase significantly, in terms of size,
reach, and efficiency in all types of businesses to face the competition in the media
industry. Technology also gives rise to new media products that have economic
value, such as films, radio, television, and the internet. The character of the media
business must have speed, accuracy and accuracy, to be conveyed to the public or
audience. For all of this, support cannot be separated from new technologies, such
as the internet. This study aims to analyze and describe how online media
management Batamnews.co.id and Batamtoday.com.
The method used is a qualitative method, with a media convergence theory
approach, media political economy and management concepts of planning,
organization, movement and supervision. Research informants totaled 5 (five)
people with data collection techniques using interviews, non-participant
observations, and documentation. Techniques of data analysis using the techniques
of description, analysis and interpretation.
The results of this study explain that the management carried out by the two
media is in accordance with the concept, although along the way, there are several
shortcomings, such as infrastructure, human resources. Meanwhile, in the theory
of media convergence, what happened at Batamtoday.com and Batamnews.co.id
was closely related to content, technology, readers or viewers and industry. This
media converges because of the technological transformation that pushes the media
to enter the digital realm further. In terms of the implementation of the political
economy of the media, these two media, especially in the form of news, this media
portal cannot be separated from the interests of the owner and the political
economy of the media it pursues. So it is very understandable, if this portal is
experiencing extraordinary commercialization. The media places the audience
solely as a market, which in the end becomes a commodity to boost income through
advertising or other collaborations.
