Penanggulangan Kebakaran Lahan Gambut Berbasis Kearifan Lokal Pada Petani Sagu Di Desa Lukun Kecamatan Tebing Tinggi Timur Kabupaten Kepulauan Meranti
ABSTRACT
Forest and land fires in Riau Province regularly occur every year. Lukun
Village, Tebing Tinggi Timur District, Meranti Islands Regency is one of the
villages where forest and land fires occurred which caused various problems,
ranging from health, social and economic aspects. One form of preventing
peatland fires is with existing local wisdom. The purpose of this study was to
describe the characteristics of sago farmers, analyze the role of local wisdom that
still exists in tackling peatland fires and analyze the relationship between
individual characteristics of farmers and the role of local wisdom in tackling
peatland fires. This research was conducted by sampling method using snowball
sampling with predetermined criteria and Likert scale analysis tools, descriptive
analysis, andanalysis spearman rank. The results of this study describe that
farmers are generally of productive age and educated, have high incomes, have a
land area of 2-6 ha with private ownership status and the distance of the land
location is 1-4 km from settlements. Meanwhile, instructors are trainers or
extension workers, support from community leaders, group roles, information and
communication media and government support are in the medium category.
Efforts to overcome peatland fires are identified in local knowledge activities,
aspects of local values, local skills, local resources, and local decision-making
mechanisms. The characteristics of farmers who have a relationship with the role
of local wisdom are age, education level, income, instructors or extension
workers, support from community leaders, information and communication media
and government support.
