Pengaruh Berbagai Jenis Biochar Limbah Padat Kelapa Sawit Terhadap Pertumbuhan Dan Hasil Tanaman Jagung Manis (Zea Mays L. Saccharata Sturt.) Di Bahan Tanah Ultisol
Sweet corn is one of the most popular agricultural commodities in
Indonesia. The low productivity of sweet corn in Riau Province is caused by the
use of poor planting media such as Ultisol. Whereas Ultisols land has the potential
to be developed in Riau. Ultisols soil constraints include the very low content of
organic matter, which causes low productivity levels. Efforts that can be made to
increase Ultisol soil fertility include the provision of biochar. It is not yet known
what type of biochar and what dosage can produce the best growth and yield of
sweet corn plants. This study aims to determine the effect of the type of biochar
derived from palm oil solid waste on the growth and yield of sweet corn plants
and to determine the appropriate dose of biochar for the growth and production of
sweet corn plants. The study used a non-factorial completely randomized design
(CRD) with 3 replications. The treatment given was biochar derived from palm oil
solid waste which consisted of 9 levels: B1: oil palm empty fruit bunch biochar at
a dose of 20 g per polybag B2: oil palm empty fruit bunch biochar at a dose of 35
g per polybag B3: oil palm empty fruit bunch biochar at a dose of 50 g per
polybag B4: oil palm trunks biochar at a dose of 20 g per polybag B5: oil palm
trunks biochar at a dose of 35 g per polybag B6: oil palm trunks biochar at a dose
of 50 g per polybag B7: oil palm frond biochar at a dose of 20 g per polybag B8:
oil palm frond biochar at a dose of 35 g per polybag B9: oil palm frond biochar at
a dose of 50 g per polybag. The results showed that the application of biochar
derived from oil palm empty fruit bunches, oil palm trunks, oil palm midribs gave
the same effect on the growth and yield of sweet corn on Ultisol soil. Application
of biochar types of oil palm empty fruit bunches, oil palm stems, and oil palm
midribs at a dose of 50 g per polybag resulted in the best growth and yield of
sweet corn plants.
