ABSTRACT
This study aims to examine the comparison of the income of rice farmers between
members of farmer groups and non-members of farmer groups in Nagari Salayo,
Kubung District, Solok Regency, West Sumatra. Rice is an important commodity
because rice is a staple food source for almost all Indonesian people. One way the
government can increase rice production and technology in cultivation is with
direct or indirect assistance. The assistance provided can be in the form of
SAPRAS, ALSINTAN and the latest technology. The large number of farmers in
Indonesia has made the government create farmer group schemes to facilitate and
maximize the distribution of aid. This study aims to determine the cultivation
performance between members of farmer groups and non-members of farmer
groups, and to analyze the comparison of income levels of rice farming by farmers
who are members of farmer groups and non-members of farmer groups in Nagari
Salayo. The analytical method used is descriptive analysis, farming analysis and
the average difference test of two independent samples (Independent sample ttest).
The number of samples consisted of 35 rice farmers who were members of
the farmer group and 35 rice farmers who were not members of the farmer group.
The results showed that there was no difference in the cultivation methods of
members and non-members of the farmer group, the difference was seen in the
decision-making process in farming. The total cost of production for members of
farmer groups and non-members of farmer groups is Rp. 1,487,703/LG/MT and
Rp. 1,613,403/LG/MT, with the average income for members of farmer groups is
Rp. 3,396,000/LG/MT and Rp. 3,289.000/LG/MT for non-members of farmer
groups. The RC ratios were respectively 2.28 for group members and 2.04 for
non-members of farmer groups. The results of the comparison of the income of
farmers group members and non-members of the farmer group with an alpha
value (α) 5% (0.005) resulted in the conclusion that there was a difference in the
income of members of the farmer group and non-members of the rice farmer
