Makna Pesan Politik Pada Foto Akun Instagram Anies Baswedan

The Instagram photo of the Governor of DKI Jakarta Anies Baswedan
reading the book "How Democracies Die" has become pros and cons. There are
those who argue that Anies Baswedan was sarcastic through the post, there are
those who say democracy is dead and there are also those who think that
democracy is not dead but just ordinary law enforcement. How Democracies Die
is a book by political scientists from Harvard University, namely Steven Levitsky
and Daniel Ziblatt. This study states that democracy in the modern era died not
because of a coup like in the past but because of fraud in elections that benefited
the incumbent. The purpose of this study is to find out and analyze the meanings
of the poslitical messages contained in this photo from four perspectives, namely
denotation, connotation, myth and overall political messages.
This study uses a qualitative research method using Roland Barthes'
semiotic analysis and the Theory of Social Reality Construction, Peter L Burger.
The data collection method used is through interview, documentation and
observation techniques. The data analysis technique used is interpretive
qualitative.
The results of the research obtained are that this photo is a form of
imaging that has been done repeatedly but in different ways and at the right
moment by Anies Baswedan. This photo depicts the figure of Anies as a person
who is devout in religion, likes to read books, is intellectual, cares about
democracy in Indonesia, a leader who will always have time for his people and
always remembers Allah SWT. These are forms of imagery by Anies Baswedan
that he has repeatedly done, so that it has become a truth in society. This is
encouraged to form the figure of Anies Baswedan as the ideal leader of the
community
