Seleksi Jamur Endofit Tanaman Pinang (Areca Catechu L.) Dan Uji Antagonisme Terhadap Ganoderma Boninense Pat. Penyebab Penyakit Busuk Pangkal Batang Kelapa Sawit Serta Identifikasinya
ABSTRACT
Palm oil is one of the main plantation commodities in Riau Province which gives high devisa contribution. However, during its to Riau and Indonesia growth there are several disturbances by disturbing organisms, one of which is pathogenic fungi Ganoderma boninense Pat. Controling method using endophytic fungi of areca plant which is in the same family as oil palm, has not been much explored. The aim of this study is to select and isolate the endophytic fungi of areca plants which have the highest antagonistic potency as biological agents against G. boninense which causes basal stem disease in oil palm plantations and identify them to the genus level. The study was conducted at the Laboratory of Plant Disease, Faculty of Agriculture, University of Riau, Pekanbaru. The research used the exploration, observation and experimental methods. The research consisted of 6 steps: isolation and purification of endophytic fungi of areca plant, hipovirulent test of the endophytic fungi of areca plant colony, diameter and growth capacity of endophytic fungi areca plant, the antagonistic test of the endophytic fungi of areca plant against G.boninense, hyperparasitism test of higher antagonistic potency of areca plant against G.boninense and characterization of the higher antagonicity of endophytic fungi isolates. The result found 17 isolates, 10 isolates were hypovirulents and 7 isolates were virulent. Isolate P2 had the highest antagonicity (77,67%). The largest diameter and the most growth capacity of the endophytic fungi were isolates P2 (90 mm and 33,45 mm/day). The hiperparasitic interaction of the higher antagonicity of endophytic fungi were twist (isolates P2) and lysis (isolates P9). The results showed that isolates P2 belongs to the genus Trichoderma and isolates P9 belongs to genus Cylindrocladium.
