Identifikasi Jenis Dan Kepadatan Populasi Cacing Tanah Di Bawah Tegakan Kelapa Sawit Pada Berbagai Jenis Tanah Mineral Masam
ABSTRACT
Oil palm cultivation is done mostly on acid mineral soil. Acid mineral soil have several problems such as low pH, saturation of Al and Fe, minimal nutrients and low C-Organic levels. This condition will affect the life of earthworms which are very dependent on their habitat. This study aims to determine the type and population density of earthworms that live under oil palm stands on different types of acid mineral soil. The research was conducted on 4 types of acid mineral soils (Fluventic Dystrudepts, Humic Dystrudepts, Typic Kandiudults, and Typic Haplohumults) for 3 months from November 2021 to February 2022. Method applied for this research was survei. Observed parameter contained of the type of earthworm, population density and relative earthworms as well as soil properties. Data were analyzed using quantitative descriptive methods and Pearson correlation. The results showed that the earthworms found under oil palm stands with different types of acid mineral soil there were 3 genus of earthworms, that is Pontoscolex, Pheretima, and Drawida with the genus Pontoscolex being able to develop on every type of acid mineral soil, the genus Pheretima only found in soil types Typic Kandiudults and Typic Haplohumults, while the genus Drawida not be found in the soil type Typic Kandiudults. The genus Pontoscolex has the highest population density in each soil type. Humic Dystrudepts soil type has the highest population density of earthworms. Field moisture content, bulk density, and organic matter are the main soil properties that affect the density of earthworm populations.
