Analisis Penawaran Dan Permintaan Cengkeh Indonesia Di Pasar Internasional
Indonesia is the largest clove producer in the world, followed by Madagascar and Tanzania. In addition, Indonesia is also the largest exporting country as well as the second-largest clove importer in the world. The main competitors of Indonesian cloves in the international market are Madagascar and Tanzania. This study examines the supply and demand of Indonesian cloves in the international market with the aim of analyzing the development of clove supply and demand, the influencing factors, supply and demand responses, and the impact of government policies on the supply and demand of Indonesian cloves in the international market.
This study uses secondary data sourced from the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), the Central Statistics Agency (BPS), and the World Bank. This study uses an econometric approach by building a simultaneous equation model. Data analysis was performed using the Two-Stage Least Square (2SLS) method using the SAS analysis tool version 9.0.
The results showed that the development of Indonesian clove supply and demand tended to fluctuate. The dominant factors influencing and being responsive to the supply and demand of Indonesian cloves in the international market in the short term are the rupiah exchange rate against the US dollar real, Indonesian clove demand, Comoros clove production, Tanzanian clove production, world clove prices t-1real, and the United Arab Emirates GDP per capita. The dominant factors influencing and being responsive to the supply and demand of Indonesian cloves in the international market in the long term are Indonesian clove harvested area, Madagascar clove harvested area, rupiah exchange rate against the US dollar real, Indonesian clove demand, Comoros clove production, Madagascar clove production, Tanzanian clove production, world clove prices t-1real, and the United Arab Emirates GDP per capita.
Cloves are a strategic commodity for Indonesia. Cloves make a major contribution to the supply of raw materials for the kretek cigarette industry and employment, as well as contributing to increasing farmers' income and foreign exchange. Policies that can be taken by the government to restore the glory of Indonesian cloves are intensification, rehabilitation, rejuvenation, and product diversification programs. The development of clove farming should be directed at increasing the income and standard of living for farmers and the community by improving the quality and productivity of cloves.
