Pengaruh Kecepatan Spindle Mesin Las Gesek Rotary Tegak Bar-Plate Terhadap Daerah Interface Dan Nilai Kekerasan
ABSTRACT
Currently, metal joining by welding method is widely used in both building construction and machine construction. However, in its development the connection method has problems, especially in metal in the form of rods, if using liquid welding the penetration produced only around the rod, not to the core of rod, then one solution is to use the friction welding method. The friction welding machine used is an vertical bar-plate rotary friction welding machine designed by Utamar, F. and Siswanto (2014), but in the research of Utamar, F. and Siswanto, the effect of welding parameters on welding results is not known because the designer only tested the machine’s performance. The purpose of this study is to determine the effect of spindle rotational speed parameter on the interface area and the value of hardness on similar materials. The test method used in this research is liquid penetrant, macro and micro observation and hardness test. The results of the liquid penetrant test have no effect on the welding results. In macro observation there is an effect on the interface, where there is a void at a spindle rotational speed of 2.484 rpm which has a length of 2,69 mm, then shrinks at 2.613 rpm which is 1,52 mm, then at a spindle rotational speed of 4.335 rpm, there is no visible void. Then the higher the rotational speed given, the welding defect, namely the void, will decrease. Spindle rotation speed affects the average hardness value, the highest average hardness value is found at the spindle rotation speed of 4.335 rpm on the interface area, which is 148,68 VHN.
