Pengaruh Variasi Sudut Chamfer Permukaan Bar Terhadap Hasil Sambungan Las Gesek Rotary Tegak Bar-Plate
ABSTRACT
One of the materials that is widely used in industrial products is mild steel AISI 1037, but the connection of mild steel has problems using the liquid welding method, so the friction welding method is used. The friction welding used is vertical bar-plate Rotary friction welding, which is the design of Utamar, F. and Siswanto (2014), when testing all specimens, the parameter variation of the bar surface chamfer angle is 0º, therefore the effect of chamfer angle on flash is unknown welding time, interface, and hardness value. The purpose of the study was to determine the effect of variations in the bar surface chamfer angle on flash, welding time, interface and hardness using vertical bar-plate rotary friction welding. Parameters used: rotational speed of 4.335 rpm, friction pressure of 0.5 MPa, forging pressure of 0.7 MPa, forging time of 10 seconds and variations of chamfer angle (0° (without chamfer angle), 15°, 30° and 45°). The methods used in this research: projector profile, NDT, metallography, and Vickers. It can be concluded that the chamfer angle variation affects the flash dimension, the smallest flash dimension resulted in a 45° chamfer angle of 1.03 mm (62%) and a width of 0.26 mm (77%). Variation of chamfer angle affects welding time, the fastest time is produced by variation without chamfer angle with an average time of 50 seconds. In the interface area, chamfer angle variations have no effect on cracks and voids. The chamfer angle affects the average hardness value, the highest hardness is obtained at the interface area of 165.45 VHN.
