DIFFERENCES IN METACOGNITIVE ABILITY OF SECOND YEAR STUDENTS OF MEDICAL FACULTY, RIAU UNIVERSITY BASED ON ENTRY

The ability to solve problems is one of the competencies that must be possessed by students of the Faculty of Medicine. In connection with these competencies, it takes the ability to learn and the right way of thinking, one of which is metacognitive abilities. The Faculty of Medicine, University of Riau is one of the Faculty of Medicine in Indonesia. The Faculty of Medicine, University of Riau implements five entry routes for prospective new students, namely the SNMPTN route, SBMPTN route, PBUD route, West SMMPTN route and Collaboration route. Each student has different metacognitive abilities. This study aims to determine differences in metacognitive abilities of second year students of the Faculty of Medicine, University of Riau based on entry. The population in this study were all second year students of the Faculty of Medicine, University of Riau in the 2022/2023 academic year. Data was collected using the Metacognitive Awareness Inventory (MAI) questionnaire. The research data were analyzed quantitatively with percentages and statistical analysis using the Kruskall Wallis test. The results showed that the metacognitive abilities of the second year students of the Faculty of Medicine, University of Riau from various entry pathways were mostly in the well-developed category. Based on statistical tests, it was found that there was no difference in the metacognitive abilities of second year students at the Faculty of Medicine, University of Riau, based on entry.
