Pertumbuhan Larva Kumbang Tanduk (Oryctes Rhinoceros L.) Pada Beberapa Bahan Organik Kompos
ABSTRACT
Rhinoceros beetle (Oryctes rhinoceros) is the main pest attacking oil palm plantations in Indonesia. The aim of the study was to obtain the growth of O. rhinoceros larvae on various types of compost made from several organic materials. The study was carried out experimentally using a completely randomized design with 8 treatments and 4 replications. Treatments in the study were Palm Oil Empty Fruit Bunch (POEFB) + rice husk + sawdust without composting, POEFB, rice husk, sawdust, POEFB+ rice husk, POEFB+ sawdust, rice husk + sawdust and POEFB + rice husk + sawdust. Parameters observed were temperature and humidity in compost organic matter, chemical analysis of compost organic matter, weight gain of O. rhinoceros larvae, increase in length of O. rhinoceros larvae and increase in width of O. rhinoceros larvae. The results showed that the growth of O. rhinoceros larvae tended to be best on POEFB + rice husk + sawdust without compost compared to compost feed where the weight gain of the larvae in the first and second month was 6.29 ± 0.12 g and 4.75 ± 0.20 g, the increase in larval length was 3.24 ± 0.03 cm and 3.15 ± 0.07 cm and the increase in larval width was 0.62 ± 0.01 cm and 0.52 ± 0.03 cm. POEFB compost, sawdust compost and POEFB + sawdust compost had the best larval growth compared to other composts.
