Prarancangan Pabrik Linier Alkylbenzene (Lab) Dengan Proses Uop/Cepsa Dengan Disain Alat Utama Kolom Destilasi N-Paraffin
ABSTRACT
Linear Alkyl Benzene (LAB) is an organic chemical in the form of a clear liquid with the molecular formula C6H5CnH2n+1. LAB is used as a raw material in the detergent industry. LAB was chosen because it has a high level of degradation so it is environmentally friendly (biodegradable). In 1995, UOP/CEPSA introduced a method for preparing LAB using a solid catalyst, called the Detal Process. Due to the higher yield, product quality and lower production costs, this process is considered to be preferable. The designed capacity of the LAB factory is 80,000 tons/year with a feed and product inflow rate of 4,5243.298 kg/hour to meet the needs of LAB in Indonesia, of which 20% are still exported from abroad. One of the main tools used to produce LAB is the n-paraffin distillation column which functions to separate the n-paraffin contained in the stream from the feed which consists of Benzene, n-paraffin, LAB, and HAB. The operating conditions in the feed section of the n-paraffin distillation tower are 185 oC with a pressure of 0.5 atm. The incoming feed is the liquid phase at the boiling point, where the n-paraffin which is separated as the top product with a dew point temperature of 188 oC will be continued in the next process. The type of distillation column used is a sieve tray with an elliptical lid and headboard, as well as a support in the form of a skirt support. The distillation column is designed with a height of 1207.62 inches and a diameter of 157.55 inches with a total of 92 trays.
