Uji Beberapa Konsentrasi Ekstrak Daun Kipahit (Tithonia Diversifolia A. Gray) Dengan Pelarut Organik Untuk Mengendalikan Hama Ulat Penggerek Tongkol Jagung (Helicoverpa Armigera Hubner)
ABSTRACT
Corn (Zea mays saccharata Sturt.) is the second staple food in Indonesia after rice, because it has almost the same carbohydrate, protein and calorie content as rice. Pests that attack corn is the corn earworm (Helicoverpa armigera Hubner). Corn crop losses due to H. armigera attack in Indonesia reached 40% so that pests need to be controlled. The control of H. armigera Hubner can be done by using botanical pesticides, namely mexican sunflower leaves (Tithonia diversifolia A. Gray). The study aimed to obtain the concentration of mexican sunflower leaf extract (Tithonia diversifolia A. Gray) with an effective organic solvent to control the corn earworm (Helicoverpa armigera Hubner). The research was carried out at the Laboratory of Plant Pests, Faculty of Agriculture and Laboratory of Chemical Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, Riau University, from December 2012 to February 2022. The study was carried out experimentally using a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) consisting of 5 treatments with 4 replications so that 20 experimental units were obtained. The treatments given were kipahit leaf extract with concentrations of 0%, 0.25%, 0.5%, 0.75%, and 1%. Observation parameters consisted of initial time of death, lethal time 50, morphological changes, daily mortality, total mortality, temperature and humidity. The results showed that the application of mexican sunflower leaf extract with a concentration of 0.75% was an effective concentration for controlling corn cob borer with a total mortality of 85.00%, the initial time of death 5.25 hours after application, and LT50 at 18.00 hours after application.
