ABSTRACT
Medicinal plants are the main element in the local medicine system in Kuantan Hilir District, Kuantan Singingi Regency. This is closely related to the culture and traditional knowledge of the community. This study aimed to inventory, identify and recognize knowledge about medicinal plants traditionally by Traditional Medicine Practitioners (POT). An ethnobotanical survey was conducted to collect information from Traditional Medicine Practitioners (POT) from September to November 2022. Plant identification was carried out at the Botanical Laboratory, Department of Biology, FMIPA, University of Riau. The research method used was an ethnobotanical survey method, observation, and interviews with six informants who had information about the use of medicinal plants. The survey identified 102 species of medicinal plants belonging to 52 botanical families by indegeneous people in Kuantan Hilir District for the treatment of 53 illnesses. Leaveas were the participal part of the plant used for the preparation of herbal formulations. Most of the medicinal plant were obtained from the home yard. Boiled with water method was the most commonly used mode of administration of herbal medicinal. Drinking is the most commonly used way of using medical plants. Fever was the most treatable disease category with FIc=0.93 while the respiratory system disease category is the lowest with FIc=0.6. The medicinal plant with the highest percentage of accuracy used by POT is Curcuma longa L. with a FL = 100%.
