Keberdayaan Petani Sagu Dalam Menanggulangi Kebakaran Lahan Gambut Berbasis Kearifan Lokal Di Kecamatan Tebing Tinggi Barat Kabupaten Kepulauan Meranti Provinsi Riau
ABSTRACT
Peat land is a sago plantation in Tebing Tinggi Barat District, Meranti Islands Regency. Land fires cause a lot of losses, so the prevention of peatland fires is very necessary. One of the efforts to control peat fires is through local wisdom. This study aims to 1) determine the characteristics of sago farmers; 2) determine the role of local wisdom; 3) analyzing the empowerment of sago farmers; and 4) analyze the relationship between the characteristics of sago farmers and the empowerment of farmers in tackling peatland fires. This study used the snowball sampling method and descriptive analysis tools with a Likert scale and Spearman rank correlation analysis. The results of this study illustrate that farmers are of productive age, low education level, small family dependents, large land area, experience, and low cosmopolitan level. Interaction with extension workers is low, support from community leaders is very high, group roles are very high, use of information and communication media is very high. and very high government support. Local knowledge plays a role, local values do not play a role, local skills play a role, local resources do play a role, and local decision-making mechanisms do. Human resources are very empowered, the productive economy is quite empowered, and quite empowered. The results of Spearman's rank correlation analysis which have a relationship are age, cosmopolitan, and interactions with trainers or extension instructors.
