ABSTRACT
This study aims to select and observe the antagonicity of the endophytic fungus isolates of Pulai plant and obtain isolates that have high antagonicity as a biological agent against R. microporus that causes white root fungus disease in rubber plants and to identify them to the genus level. The research was conducted at the Laboratory of Plant Diseases, Faculty of Agriculture, University of Riau. This study used exploratory methods (isolation and purification of endophytic fungi from Pulai plants), experiments (antagonism, diameter and growth rate of high antagonistic activity endophytic fungi) and observation (hypovirulence, hyperparasitism and identification of high antagonistic activity endophytic fungi). Data of macroscopic characteristics, hypovirulence, hyperparasitism and identification of high antagonistic activity endophytic fungi are presented descriptively. Data on antagonism, diameter and growth rate of high-antagonistic activity endophytic fungi were analysis of variance and to compare the means between treatments were analyzed by DNMRT at 5% level. The results found 17 isolates, 15 isolates were hypovirulent and 2 isolates were virulent. Isolates P12D, P9D, P11D (from leaf tissue) had high antagonistic activity (63.05%; 62.92%; 62.70%). The largest diameter and highest growth rate of endophytic fungi was isolate P5B (from stem tissue) (90.00 mm and 55.50 mm.day-1). Endophytic fungal hyperparasitic interactions with high antagonistic activity are attachment (P5B, P11D), lysis (P12D) and entanglement (P3A, P9D, P13D). The results also showed that isolates P9D, P11D, P12D belonged to the genus Trichoderma, P3A belonged to the genus Syncephalastrum, P5B belonged to the genus Mucor and P13D belonged to the genus Aspergillus
