ABSTRACT
The activity of converting rubber to oil palm is a collaborative activity between the planters who are members of KUD Wisma Tani and PTPN V. The collaboration is here to solve problems for smallholders who have difficulty finding capital in carrying out activities to convert rubber to oil palm. This study aims to find out (1) to analyze the characteristics of the smallholders who participate in the conversion of rubber plantations to oil palm at KUD Wisma Tani, Rokan Hulu Regency. (2) analyze the level of participation of smallholders in implementing the conversion of rubber plantations to oil palm in KUD Wisma Tani, Rokan Hulu Regency. (3) analyzing the effect of the characteristics of the smallholders on the level of participation of the smallholders in the implementation of the conversion of rubber plantations to oil palm in KUD Wisma Tani, Rokan Hulu Regency. This research was conducted in Air Panas Village, Pendalian IV Koto District, Rokan Hulu Regency with a total sample of 40 respondents. The sample in this study used cluster random sampling. The analysis used in descriptive analysis and multiple regression analysis. The results of this study indicate that the level of participation of smallholders in the planning stage is in the agree category, the implementation stage is in the moderately agree category, the evaluation and results utilization stage is in the agree category. the variables of education and land area have a significant effect on the level of farmer participation, while the variables of age, experience and income have no significant effect on the participation of smallholders.
