Study Of Poly Aluminium Chloride Pump (Pac Pump)

ABSTRACT
In the world industry, to move a liquid material from one place to another, a pump is
used, so the pump plays a very important role. A pump is a machine/equipment used
to lift liquids from a lower surface to a higher surface or move liquids from a place of
low pressure to a place of higher pressure. At PT. RAPP, in the water treatment plant
(WTP) unit, has 2 PAC Pumps where one pump is used to operate and the other
pump is on standby and is used when the operating pump experiences problems. In
this final project, it was discovered about a pump (PAC pump) that is used to transfer
poly aluminum chloride (PAC) solution from the alum preparation tank (APT) to the
reactivated clarifier. The method used is field observation and data collection from
daily report operators. Based on the results of field observations and the data
obtained, it is known that from September 2022 to December 2022 there were many
problems with the PAC pump, including low pumping, leaks, non-adjustable stroke,
insufficient flow and no pumping. The problem that of then occurs in PAC Pump is
leaking and stroke cam’t not adjust. In order to avoid this problem, care and
maintenance must be carried out on the pump such as changing the oil, cleaning the
pump, flushing the pump, carrying out routine checks according to PT SOP. RAPP.
