Memaintain Quality Turbidity Process Water 1 Ntu
ABSTRACT
Water Treatment Plant is a department that functions to provide process water and raw materials for boiler feed water sourced from the Kampar river. Raw water from the water intake is pumped to the water treatment plant. In the water treatment process, one of the water quality parameters that must be considered is turbidity. PT. RAPP maintains a quality standard target with a maximum turbidity value of 1 NTU. Therefore, this final project aims to find out how to maintain turbidity process water 1 NTU at PT. RAPP so that the results to be distributed to the factory area are in accordance with the requested conditions. The effect of turbidity process water due to running hours on sand filter beds that have been too long can cause turbidity results in high process water of 2.12 NTU. So that repairs are made by backwashing the sand filter bed, conducting periodic inspections on the sand filter bed and replacing the filter contained in the sand filter bed. One of the other effects derived from the reactivated clarifier also has an impact on increasing turbidity, namely by injecting excess lime will cause the pH to rise so that floc deposits are disturbed and excessive or deficient doses of coagulants can cause water to return to turbid or dirty. This will have an impact on the desired results so action is needed to improve water quality by determining the right dose of coagulants and flocculants, and conducting routine checks on chemical pumps. After the action, there was a decrease in the turbidity process water value in accordance with the maintained parameters, namely 1 NTU.
