ABSTRACT
Broke System is one of the important materials in paper making. Broke is a fiber
obtained from a sheet of paper obtained from a process on a paper machine. This
fiber is called secondary fiber, because broke is a source of fiber obtained from
recycled reject paper. Apart from paper breaks, broke can also be obtained from
paper trim (even distribution of paper edges). Broke is divided into two types,
namely wet broke and dry broke. Wet broke is a broke that comes from sheets of
paper that are still wet. Dry Broke is a broken that has less water content (you
could say it's close to dry) and has a sheet shape. Therefore this sheet needs to be
decomposed first to get back the fiber using Hydropulper. Before using broker,
broker must go through a thickener process first. Thickener is a stock thickening
process by removing water, where the broke enters the drum through the feed and
then the drum rotates at a certain speed so that the water comes out through the
wire mesh in the drum while the broke is left inside the surface of the drum. Broke
in thickener so that the consistency of the broken is uniform so you will get good
quality paper. This report contains the effect of speed thickener on the broken
consistency and the electric current used in the thickener. Observation results of
the final project obtained through 2 tests, if the speed thickener increases, the
broken consistency will also increase and the electric current used by the
thickener will also increase. 5 - 4rpm.
