ABSTRACT
Aromatherapy candles are an alternative application of inhaling aroma vapor produced from a few drops of essential oil used, which produces an aroma that gives a therapeutic effect when burned to function as a sedative and room freshener. Clove flowers and peppermint leaves contain essential oils so they can be used as aromatherapy candles. This research studied the effect of adding peppermint and clove essential oils and comparing the addition of paraffin with stearic acid and paraffin with CPO on wax quality. This research method begins with the preparation of raw materials, extracting peppermint and clove flowers, making peppermint and clove aromatherapy candles, then analyzing aromatherapy candles. The results showed that the best peppermint leaf and clove flower extract aromatherapy candles were obtained in sample F7a (2:2) in a combination of a mixture of paraffin and stearic acid with a ratio of 60:40 and fulfilled SNI 0386-1989-A/SII 0348-1980. Making aromatherapy candles made from paraffin and CPO changes the color and smell after adding the essential oils of peppermint leaves and clove flowers and after the wax hardens the oil in CPO cannot harden completely following paraffin so it does not meet SNI 0386-1989-A/SII 0348- 1980, therefore making candles with a mixture of CPO cannot be used because CPO is a liquid.
