Penentuan Kinerja Kompor Bertungku Dengan Bahan Bakar Dari Campuran Minyak Jelantah Dan Pertalite
ABSTRACT
A mixture of used cooking oil and pertalite has not been widely used by people as fuel for stoves. In general, kerosene is used as fuel in the stove, but the price of kerosene is very expensive. This study aims to find alternative fuels to replace kerosene for stoves. In order to grt the best performance of the stove, the treatment of variations in the ratio of used cooking oil-pertalite mixture (9:1, 8:2 and 5:5) as fuel was carried out. Before use, 15 grams of detergent adsorbent was added to the used cooking oil, then a separation was carried out between the detergent adsorbent and the used cooking oil by filtering using gauze, then mixing the used cooking oil with 2 liters of Pertalite. The fuel mixture is analyzed before and after it is used on the stove. Stove performance is determined by the color of the flame, the time it takes to boil 1 liter of water and the time it takes 1 liter of fuel to burn out. The results showed that the best fuel performance was having a blue-red flame, the time to boil 1 liter of water for 22:49 minutes and the time needed for 1 liter of fuel to burn out was 1 hour, 4 minutes, 10 seconds. This fuel is a mixture of used cooking oil and pertalite in a ratio of 9: 1. The characteristics of this fuel include a density of 0.877 gr/cm3, a viscosity of 54.228 mm2/s, a heating value of 43.527 J/kg and a flash point of 39oC.
Keywords: detergent, stove, used cooking oil, pertalite.
