Prarancangan Pabrik Polybutylene Terephthalate Dari Terephthalate Acid Dan 1,4- Butanediol Dengan Disain Alat Utama Reaktor Esterifikasi (R-101)
ABSTRACT
Polybutylene Terephthalate (PBT) is a type of synthetic plastic that is nonbidegradable
or cannot be degraded by microorganisms. Polybutylene
Terephthalate (PBT) is urgently needed as a raw material for the manufacture of
electronics, military, shipping, medical devices to household appliances. The need
for PBT increases along with the increase in the capacity of plastic food and
beverage packaging factories. National needs for Polybutylene Terephthalate in
the last five years have tended to increase, but some are still met from other
countries such as Saudi Arabia, the United States, Canada, Singapore, South
Korea, Germany and Japan. In Indonesia, the need for PBT is 950 million
tonnes/year. For this reason, the Polybutylene Terephthalate industry has good
prospects for development in Indonesia. Based on various reviews, the
Polybutylene Terephthalate factory will be located in the Lampung industrial
area. This article is a brief description of the mechanical design of the
Esterification Reactor (R-101) as the main equipment that will determine the
economic feasibility of this plant. The feasibility study shows that this PBT mill
has a BEP of 39%; ROI 38.79%; IRR 22.74% and payment period of 2.32 years.
