Prarancangan Pabrik Etilen Oksida Dari Etilen Dan Oksigen Dengan Proses Dow Meteor Dengan Disain Alat Utama Eo Absorber (Ab-101)
ABSTRACT
Along with the times, the need for chemicals in Indonesia is getting bigger. One of
the most widely used chemicals is ethylene oxide. This chemical, also known as
epoxyethane is widely used in the chemical and pharmaceutical industries. The
main raw material for the manufacture of ethylene oxide with the DOW Meteor
process uses ethylene and oxygen. Ethylene oxide (oxirane) is the simplest cyclic
ether in the form of a colorless gas or liquid that has a sweet etheric aroma and is
one of the intermediate substances that has many uses. The reaction that occurs is
an ethylene oxidation reaction that produces the main product ethylene oxide and
by-products carbon dioxide and water. The results of the economic analysis of the
prarancangan Ethylene Oxide Plant from Ethylene and Oxygen with the Dow
Meteor Process are (1) BEP (Break event Point) obtained in this plant design of
50%. (2) ROI (Rate of Investment) obtained in this design is 70.64%. (3) IRR
(Interest Rate of Return) obtained in this design is 22.75%. (4) PBP (Pay Back
Period) obtained in this design is 1 year. From the data from the calculation of the
economic analysis above, it can be concluded that the Ethylene Oxide plant from
Ethylene and Oxygen with the Dow Meteor Process is feasible to establish.
