Prarancangan Pabrik Cumene Dari Benzena Dan Propilen Menggunakan Proses Badger Dengan Desain Alat Utama Reaktor Alkilasi Jenis Fixed Bed Multitube
ABSTRACT
Cumene is an intermediate product that has an important role in producing other industrial products such as: nylon, polycarbonate, epoxy, and others. Cumene is also the main ingredient in the manufacture of phenol and acetone. Cumene is produced by reacting benzene and propylene. This plant is designed to produce 10,000 tons of cumene per year, operating continuously for 330 days/year and 24 hours/day. The main of the equipment design in this paper is an alkylation reactor. In the alkylation reactor, propylene and benzene are reacted to become cumene using the Badger process with MCM-22 catalyst. This reactor is operated at a temperature of 350 oC and a pressure of 25 bar. This type of reactor is a fixed bed multitube with 464 tubes and a water cooler on the shell side. The total investment capital for the cumene plant is Rp. 1,012,308,524,263 with a fixed cost of Rp. 151,846,278,639. The economic feasibility analysis of the plant shows that the plant is feasible to continue to the next stage of design, which can be seen from the analysis of the IRR value obtained by 22.83%, the ROI value of 58.21%, and the pay back period of 4.39 years.
