ABSTRACT
Isobutylene is an intermediate product that has an important role in various chemical industries. Given the increasing demand for isobutylene while the producers of I sobutilene itself, especially in Indonesia, can still be said to be limited, it can be concluded that the market for isobutylene plants is still very open, both domestic and foreign markets . In Indonesia , isobutylene products can be distributed toMTBE and EBTE factories where isobutylene is used as raw material. Our final project proposes to design a new isobutylene plant that meets domestic isobutylene needs and reduces 55% of imported isobutylene needs. This project can reduce the country's foreign exchange, and allocate jobs to local labor. The Isobutilen plant has a capacity of 15,000 tons/year. This capacity is used to meet the import needs of isobutylene. This isobutylene plant is planned to be built in Lubuk Gaung area , Dumai city , Riau Province . To produce high-purity isobutylene in accordance with product quality standards, the CATOFIN® process is used. The CATOFIN process consists of a catalytic dehydrogenation process from isobutane feedstock and using catalysts. The main design of this project is the Reactor (R-101).Isobutilene products produced are semi-finished goods used for production raw materials for other chemical industries. The pre-designed economic analysis of this plant obtained Return On Investment (ROI) 38.37%, payback period (PBP) 1.99 years, BEP 35% and IRR 22.75,%. Feasibility analysis shows that the Isobutilen plant project is feasible.
