Prarancangan Pabrik Hidrazin Dari Amonia Proses Raschig Dengan Desain Alat Utama Menara Distilasi (D-100)
ABSTRACT
Hydrazine is an inorganic compound in the form of a colorless flammable liquid with an odor like ammonia. Hydrazine is mainly used as a foaming agent in the manufacture of polymeric foams, polymerization catalysts and pharmaceuticals. In addition, hydrazine is used in various rocket fuels and in the manufacture of gas precursors used in air bags. Currently, the design of a hydrazine plant in Indonesia has high potential. Hydrazine is a hydro nitrogen compound with the molecular formula N2H4 and can be found in solution. Hydrazine is a strong reducing agent and is widely used in water treatment, especially in boiler feed water systems as an oxygen binder. In Indonesia, hydrazine has not been produced domestically, so it still requires imports from other countries to meet domestic needs. Our final project proposes to design a new hydrazine plant that meets domestic hydrazine needs and reduces the need for imported hydrazine. This project can reduce the country's foreign exchange, and allocate jobs for local workers. The hydrazine plant with a capacity of 16,000 tons/year is planned to be built in the Sumur Pecung area, Banten province. The selected process in the manufacture of hydrazine using ammonia as raw material is the Raschig Process. The main design in this project is the Distillation Tower (D-100) which is used for the product separation process with water. The economic analysis of this factory design obtained a Return On Investment (ROI) of 28.46%, a payback period (PBP) of 4.32 years, a BEP of 24.703% and an IRR of 22.76%. The feasibility analysis indicated that the hydrazine plant project was feasible.
