Penapisan Dan Uji Daya Antagonis Jamur Rizosfer Tanaman Kelapa Terhadap Phytophthora Palmivora Butler Penyebab Penyakit Busuk Umbut Tanaman Kelapa Serta Identifikasinya
ABSTRACT
One of the important diseases in coconut plants is coconut root rot disease caused by Phytophthora palmivora Butler which can cause the fall of young fruit and death of the plant. The high potential loss caused by P. palmivora Butler infection requires a good control method. Several control methods that have been implemented are the use of synthetic pesticides, environmental sanitation, and planting disease-resistant varieties, which are still not very effective. Another alternative for controlling this disease is to use biological agents, one of which is antagonistic fungi. The aim of this research is to select and obtain isolates of rhizosphere fungi from coconut plants which have higher antagonistic activity against P. palmivora Butler. The research was conducted at the Laboratory of Plant Disease, Faculty of Agriculture, University of Riau, Pekanbaru. There search used exploration methods, experiment and observation. Data of hypovirulence, hyperparasitism, and identification of higher antagonicity of rhizosphere fungi were presented descriptively. Data of antagonicity, diameter and growth rate of higher antagonicity of rhizosphere fungi were analyzed using analysis of variance. To comphare the means among the treatments, HSD at 5% level were applied. The results of the research found 18 isolates, 15 isolates were hypovirulent and 3 isolates were virulent. Isolate K4 had the highest antagonistic activity. The largest diameter and the highest growth rate of rhizosphere fungi was isolate K4. Hyperparasitic interaction of higher antagonicity of the rhizosphere fungi were lysis and attachment. The result also showed that the isolates: K2, K4, K6, K8, and K13 belonged to the genus of Trichoderma.
