Kepadatan Populasi Cacing Tanah Di Lahan Kebun Karet Rakyat Dan Padi Gogo
ABSTRACT
This study aims to determine the population density of earthworms in smallholder
rubber and upland rice plantations. This research was conducted in Pulau Payung
Village, Kampar District in smallholder rubber and upland rice fields. This
research was conducted from November to Januari 2021. Determining where to
take soil samples using purposive method. Soil sampling was carried out by
random sampling method. For each land use 3 point weretaken with 3
replications for a total of 18 samples. Parameters observed were the population
density of adult worms, young worms, cocoons, the percentage of adult worms
and young worms. Based on the result of the study showed that the population
density of adult worms, young worms, cocoons and the percentage of adult worms
was higher in rubber plantations than in upland rice fields. This is caused by
environmental conditions, organic matter content and not using pesticides.
Production yields of rubber and upland rice plants are low, due to lack of plant
maintenance and not using superior seeds. Utilization of earthworms can be used
to increase soil fertility, because earthworm manure contains nutriens in the form
of N, P, K, Mg ang Ca.
Keywords : Earthworm, rubber plant, upland rice, population density.
