Study Runability Sistem Sizer Baru Di Paper Machine 2 Pt.Rapp
ABSTRACT
The runability of a paper machine is one of the most important things in producing quality paper. If the runability is good, it can produce more paper products and can reduce production costs. Uneven starch and streak are problems that are often found in sizers, which are part of the paper machine. The runability of the old sizer system in PT RAPP's paper machine 2 had a splashing problem, so the old sizer system was replaced with a new sizer system. In this final project the focus is on studying the runability of the new sizer system on paper machine 2. The things that will be discussed are the factors that influence the runability of the new sizer system and the optimum point parameters (viscosity, solid, and size pick up) to run the new sizer system . Based on the results of the final project, it is known that the viscosity surface sizing agent affects the runability of the machine, the runability of the machine runs well on an average viscosity range of 11.3-21.47 cP. Besides that, solid which is the percentage of starch in 1 Kg of starch affects the Runability of the machine, because it can be seen that the good solid average for runability is in the range of 11.7-14%. Rod loading does not affect the Runability of the machine, because it can be seen that the average rod loading when the rod loading is low or high, breaks still occur. The size of the pick up affects the runability of the machine, because it can be seen that the average size of the pick up which is good for runability is in the range of 0.85-1.2 g/m2. It can be concluded that the factors that influence the runability of the new sizer system are human resources, materials, and parameters of the new sizer system. The parameters that affect the runability of the new sizer system are viscosity, solid, and size pick up.
