Efektivitas Penggunaan Bacl2 Terhadap Penurunan Kadar Na2so4 Pada Proses Pemurnian Larutan Garam
ABSTRACT
Sodium hydroxide (NaOH) is a chemical used to help remove lignin or delignification which can damage the color of the pulp which is used in the cooking process in the digester. In the chemical plant department, NaOH is produced by a chlor alkali plant using a salt solution as raw material having a concentration of 300 ± 5 gpl. The salt solution used to produce NaOH will be purified first in the brine treatment system process by adding chemicals to remove impurities contained in the salt solution. This research was conducted to determine the effectiveness of using the chemical BaCl2 to reduce levels of Na2SO4 in the gram solution purification process. The effectiveness value obtained for the use of the chemical BaCl2 is 0.34-0.47 m3/hr. This shows that the value of the Na2SO4 content obtained is in accordance with the established standards, namely 7 ± 1 gpl. In addition, the appropriate level of Na2SO4 is also determined by several factors that affect the process of reducing Na2SO4 levels, such as filter flow and BaCl2 flow.
