Pertumbuhan Dan Hasil Tanaman Jagung Manis (Zea Mays Saccharata Sturt.) Pada Medium Ultisol Yang Diaplikasikan Beberapa Bahan Organik Dan Cacing Tanah (Lumbricus Rubellus)
ABSTRACT
The research aims to study the interaction of organic matter with earthworms, the main effects of organic matter and earthworms on the growth and production of sweet corn plants. The research was in the form of factorial experiments arranged according to a complete randomized design. The first factor of organic matter consisted of 4 levels (no organic matter, solid, compost of empty oil palm bunches and legume crop cover) each with 150 g per polybag, and the second factor of earthworm inoculation consisted of 3 levels (no earthworms, 10 and 15). The parameters observed were plant height, number of leaves, stem diameter, plant growth rate, female flower appearance time, harvest age, weight of cob with cob, weight of cob without cob, number of seed rows, number of earthworms, number of cocoons, and weight of earthworms. The results showed that organic matter had a significant effect on all observations of sweet corn plant growth and production. Earthworms can increase plant height, number of leaves, plant growth rate, female flower appearance time, and harvest age. The provision of organic materials provides an interaction on plant height, number of leaves, stem diameter, time to appear female flowers, harvest age, and number of seed rows. The provision of solid organic matter without earthworms gives higher production of cob weight of 126.00 g. The number of earthworm population decreased in each treatment, the highest population only survived 5,333 heads, while the highest earthworm weight was only 0,876 g.
