Efektivitas Biji Mahoni (Swietenia Mahagoni Jacq.) Terhadap Mortalitas Ulat Grayak Jagung (Spodoptera Frugiperda J. E. Smith) Di Laboratorium
ABSTRACT
Corn (Zea mays L.) is a plant that has a high position as a source of carbohydrates and protein after rice and is used as a feed source. Attemp to increase corn production are still experiencing several obstacles, such as Spodoptera frugiperda J.E. Smith pest attacks which can cause yield loss of 15-73% if the plant population is attacked by 55 - 100%. Botanical pesticides mahagony seeds (Swietenia mahagoni Jacq.) can be a safe alternative for controlling S. frugiperda. This study aims to obtain the concentration of mahagony seed extract (Swietenia mahagoni Jacq.) which is effective against the mortality of Spodoptera frugiperda. The research was conducted at the Laboratory of Plant Pests, Faculty of Agriculture, Riau University, from January to March 2023, using a completely randomized design (CRD) consisting of 6 treatments and 4 replications. Treatment application consists of concentration 0 g.l-1 water, 20 g.l-1 water, 40 g.l-1 water, 60 g.l-1 water, 80 g.l-1 water, and 100 g.l-1 water mahagony seed extract. The research results show the application of mahagony seed extract has a significant effect on the mortality of Spodoptera frugiperda. Concentration mahogany seeds extract 100 g.l-1 water is an effective concentration in controlling S. frugiperda larvae because it can cause a total mortality of 87.5% with an initial death time of 10.25 hours after application and a lethal time of 50 at 60.75 hours after application.
