ABSTRACT
At this time, one type of paper that is in great demand is the offset paper type. One of the qualities that must be met on offset paper is that the paper has a good internal bond. The internal bond value is closely related to the refining process, refining load and cationic starch. With the increase in the internal value of the bond, the strength properties of the paper will be better, the paper does not undergo delamination and produces good quality. Therefore, in this final project, an Analysis of the Effect of Freeness on the Internal Bonding value of Offset Paper on Paper Machine #1 is carried out so that it can be used as reference material for making offset paper whose quality is on target.
This final project was carried out in PM#1 using secondary data from 80 gsm and 100 gsm offset paper production from December 2022 - February 2023. The results of the internal bond test will be linked to several parameters, namely short fiber (SF) freeness, refining, rerfining load and cationic starch. As for the observation of correlation values between parameters. SF freeness on 80 gsm paper has a positive influence on the internal value of the bond. The correlation value obtained is 0.731. The correlation value of the effect of cationic starch on internal bonds on 80 gsm paper is quite strong, which is 0.6619. While on 100 gsm SF freeness paper has a fairly strong correlation value of 0.6547 and has a positive influence on internal bonds. The cationic starch correlation value is quite strong, which is 0.7125 which has a high influence on internal bonding..
