“Analisis Optimalisasi Energy Consumption Pada Unit Lime Kiln #2”
ABSTRACT
Recausticizing Lime Kiln is one of the areas in PT RAPP which is responsible for producing white liquor cooking liquid for wood chip cooking needs in the digester. In the process, the causticizing reaction produces a byproduct in the form of lime mud (CaCO3) which can be converted back into burnt lime (CaO). This process requires a lime kiln unit to burn lime mud so that a calcination reaction occurs which produces lime. The lime mud calcination process requires a large amount of fuel energy, natural gas and methanol to burnt the lime mud in the rotary lime kiln at high temperatures (800oC-1100oC) with air supply from the surrounding environment which is taken using an ID fan to the rotary lime kiln, where in addition to the combustion process, this air is also used to regulate the shape of the fire so that the heat produced is stable. In this final project, a study was conducted on natural gas energy consumption and identifying and analyzing energy-saving opportunities in lime kilns. This final project aims to achieve efficient optimization of energy consumption. To achieve the target of energy consumption using the natural gas flow of 6157.55 Nm3/hour and methanol flow of 1401.235 tons/hour. In this condition, the dryness value of lime mud must reach 74.14% so that the most optimal energy consumption is achieved at 6.33 mmBTU with the company's target of 6.4 mmBTU.T.
