Adsorpsi Zat Organik Dan Warna Pada Air Gambut Menggunakan Beads Chitosan Crosslink Glutaraldehyde (Gla) Dengan Variasi Dosis Adsorben Dan Waktu Kontak
ABSTRACT
The peat water quality found in the Riau Province does not meet the requirements for clean water, thus requiring treatment. The purpose of this research is to analyze the characteristics, organic matter and color adsorption efficiency of peat water, as well as to calculate the adsorption capacity and equilibrium model using crosslinked GLA chitosan beads. The method used is batch adsorption. Chitosan is a natural adsorbent with weak mechanical properties and is soluble in acidic environments. GLA is a crosslinking agent that enhances the stability of chitosan in acidic environments. The study was conducted by varying the adsorbent dosage at 4, 6, 8, 10, 12 gr/L and contact time at 30, 60, 90, 120, 150 minutes to reduce organic matter and color in peat water. Characterization of crosslinked GLA chitosan beads using SEM analysis showed that the beads have large pores, and the water absorption capacity of the beads is 15,34%. The best removal efficiency for organic matter and color was 98,366% and 99,050%, respectively, at an adsorbent dosage of 12 gr/L and a contact time of 150 minutes. The adsorption capacity was 23,572 mg/g, and the adsorption equilibrium was described by the Langmuir and Freundlich equations with R2 values of 0.9458 and 0.9514, respectively. The results of the Two-Way Anova test showed a significance value of ≤ 0,05, indicating an influence of adsorbent dosage and contact time on the removal of organic matter in peat water, while for color removal, a significance value of ≤ 0,05 indicated an influence of increasing adsorbent dosage, and a significance value of ≥ 0,05 indicated no influence of contact time on color removal in peat water. The results of this study have met the quality standards set by the Indonesian Ministry of Health through Regulation No. 32 of 2017 on Hygiene and Sanitation.
