Pengaruh Penambahan Biokoagulan Biji Melon (Cucumis Melo L.) Pada Penurunan Zat Organik Dan Warna Air Gambut Pada Proses Koagulasi
ABSTRACT
The peat water has a high content of color and organic matter. One alternative for peat water treatment is coagulation-flocculation with natural coagulants. This study aims to determine the effect of pH and coagulant dose on the efficiency of removing color and organic matter from peat water using natural coagulants from melon seeds. The melon seeds were dried in the sun for 7 days and sifted through a 100 mesh sieve. The study used variations in pH, namely 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, and 7, the coagulant dose was 10 gr/l, 11 gr/l, 12 gr/l, 13 gr/l, 14 gr/l, 15gr/l and 16 gr/l. The results showed that the highest reduction in color and organic matter in the coagulation and flocculation processes was at a coagulant dose of 11 g/l, and at pH 3 operating conditions with removal efficiency of 92,57% for color and 90,48% for organic substances.
