Kandungan Mikroplastik Pada Ikan Pelagis Kecil Yang Di Daratkan Di Kota Dumai Provinsi Riau
Abstract
Microplastics that were present in the water may be accidentally swallowed by fish and present in the stomach of the fish. To understand the presence of microplastics in the stomachs of small pelagic fish landed in fish landing area in the Dumai City, a study was conducted in January - March 2023. The fish used in this study were 90 fishes and they were belonged to 3 different species, namely Selaroides leptochepis, Decapterus russelli and Rastrelliger sp. The fish was dissected and the stomach was removed. The stomach contents were put into 25 ml plastic sample pots and added with 10% KOH solution. The samples were then incubated for 14 days in order to destroy the organic matter. It was then identified using a binocular microscope and the result was noted. Results shown that there were 3 types of microplastics present, namely fragments, fibers, and films. The highest abundance of microplastics was found in Rastrelliger sp (1.56-7.0 particles/fish), followed by D. russelli (1.46-5.06 particles/fish) and S. leptochepis (0.66-2.2 particles/fish). Data obtained indicated that microplastics particles present in the water might be swallowed by small pelagic fishes.
