Prarancangan Pabrik High-Density Polyethylene (Hdpe) Proses Cx-Mitsui Dengan Desain Alat Utama Reaktor High Molecular Weight (R-202)
ABSTRACT
High density polyethylene (HDPE) is a chemical compound with the molecular formula (-CH2- CH2-)n. HDPE has slightly hazy and transparent characteristics, as well as being elastic. This chemical has a melting point above 127°C at a pressure of 1 atm. Process of HDPE production is the CX-Mitsui process with Ziegler-Natta catalyst, which operates at 0.2-0.7 MPa and temperature at range 75°–86°C. The CX-Mitsui process consists of 2 continuous stirred-tank reactors of same size, operated in series or parallel. The raw materials used in HDPE production are ethylene, with hexane as the solvent, hydrogen as the chain transfer agent, and 1-butene as the comonomer. The purpose of the preliminary design of the HDPE plant using the CX-Mitsui process with a capacity of 125,000 tons/year is to fill the domestic demand for HDPE, which is mostly imported, and also to explore export opportunities. The plant will be located in the Cilegon Industrial Zone, Banten. The HDPE plant will require utility units, including water supply and treatment unit, steam supply unit, instrument air supply unit, waste treatment unit, and fuel supply unit. The total of employees will be 169, and the company will be established as a Private Limited Company (PT) with a line and staff organizational structure. Based on the economic analysis, the total investment (TCI) is projected to be Rp 429,616,781,467, and the Return of Investment (ROI) after taxes is estimated to be 27.35%. The Pay Out Time (POT) is calculated to be 2.68 years after taxes. The Break Event Point (BEP) is at 40.13%, the Shut Down Point (SDP) is at 17.36%, and the Discounted Cash Flow (DCF) is at 20.42%. From the economic analysis results, it can be concluded that the HDPE plant is financially feasible for realization.
