Prarancangan Pabrik Dimetil Karbonat Dari Metanol Menggunakan Proses Karbonilasi Oksidatif Dengan Disain Alat Utama Vaporizer (Vp-101)
ABSTRACT
Dimethyl carbonate (DMC) is a compound that exhibits versatile reactivity and is widely used in chemical transformation reactions such as methylation, carbonylation, and methoxycarbonylation. Dimethyl carbonate (DMC) is also considered one of the alternative additive substances capable of replacing conventional additives due to its environmentally friendly nature compared to other additives, and it can reduce hydrocarbon, CO, NOx, and other particle emissions. With the increasing chemical industry, the demand for supporting elements of the industry also rises, including auxiliary materials. The demand for raw materials and industrial support materials in Indonesia is still largely imported from abroad. The production of raw materials and support materials domestically can save foreign exchange expenditure, increase exports, and enhance technological control. The dimethyl carbonate plant is planned to be established in the Bontang industrial area, East Kalimantan, with a production capacity of 10,000 tons per year. The main equipment design consists of a vaporizer (VP-101) that functions to vaporize liquid methanol from the feed and recycle streams, with a column height of 3.31 m and width of 1.51 m. The Total Capital Investment (TCI) for the pre-design of this dimethyl carbonate plant is Rp 61,830,013,431.75. Based on the economic analysis, this dimethyl carbonate plant is feasible to be established with a Break-Even Point (BEP) of 37%; Return on Investment (ROI) of 168.84%; Internal Rate of Return (IRR) of 22.82%; Payback Period (PBP) of 0.49 years; and Net Benefit/Cost ratio (Net B/C) of 6.76.
