Studi Adsorpsi Air Gambut Menggunakan Zeolit Berbahan Dasar Palm Oil Bottom Ash (Poba)
ABSTRACT
Peat water has a brownish red color because it contains high organic matter. Adsorption using zeolite as an adsorbent is one of the peat water treatment methods. POBA (Palm Oil Bottom Ash) is a solid waste from the disposal of oil palm boilers. POBA has a high silica content which can be used as a base for zeolite manufacture. The use of POBA as a low-cost adsorbent is one of the solutions in waste handling. This study aims to analyze the effect of contact time, pH, adsorbent dose, and initial concentration on the adsorption of color and organic matter in peat water and determine the reaction kinetics and adsorption isotherms. This study used variations in contact time 5, 15, 30, 60, 90, 120, 180 minutes, pH 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, adsorbent dose 20 ; 25; 30 g/L, initial concentration 20% ; 30% ; 40% ; 50% ; 60% ; 70% ; 80% ; and 100% peat water. The results of this study showed that the highest removal of color and organic matter was found at contact time of 120 minutes, pH 2, adsorbent dose of 25 g/L, initial concentration of 20% peat water which color 1494 PtCo and organic matter 44,24 mg/L with an efficiency of removal of color and organic matter of 98.80% and 98.57% and the adsorption capacity of organic matter is 1.74 mg/g. The appropriate kinetic models are pseudo second order with an R2 value of 0.99984 and the Freundlich isotherm model with an R2 value of 0.98144.
