Pengaruh Konsentrasi Dan Lama Waktu Perendaman Asam Sulfat (H2so4) Terhadap Perkecambahan Biji Tembesu (Fragraea FRAGRANS Roxb.)
ABSTRACT
Tembesu (Fragraea fragrans Roxb.) is a high quality wood producing plant. Some parts of the tembesu plant can be used as ingredients in medicines and perfumes. The large use of tembesu plants is not in line with the availability of tembesu plants. This is because tembesu seeds have small seed sizes and hard seed coats. Breaking the dormancy of tembesu seeds can be done with chemical compounds such as sulfuric acid (H2SO4). This study aims to determine the effect of H2SO4 concentration and the effect of soaking time and the interaction between the two and determine the best combination between H2SO4 concentration and soaking time to increase tembesu germination. This study used a completely randomized factorial design with 2 factors. The first factor is the concentration of H2SO4 with 5 concentration levels, namely 0, 25%, 50%, 75%, and 98%. The second factor is the length of immersion time with 4 immersion levels, namely 20 minutes, 40 minutes, 60 minutes, and 80 minutes. The results of this study indicated that the concentration of H2SO4 and the interaction between the concentration of H2SO4 and the length of soaking time had a significant effect on tembesu germination. The best combination of H2SO4 concentration and soaking time for tembesu germination was 25% H2SO4 for 20 minutes with a germination percentage of 98% with the fastest germination time of 8.72 days after planting.
