Aktivitas Antibakteri Ekstrak Daun Clerodendrum THOMSONIAE DAN Azadirachta INDICA Terhadap Bakteri Ralstonia SOLANACEARUM Yang Menyebabkan Layu Pada Cabai
ABSTRACT
The productivity of chili in Indonesia is still very low compared to the yield potential, one of the reasons is that many chili plants are attacked by disease. Ralstonia solanacearum is one of the bacteria that attacks chili plants which causes wilt disease. One type of Indonesian herbal plant that has antibacterial activity is neem (Azadirachta indica) and bleeding heart vine (Clerodendrum thomsoniae). The purpose of this study was to determine the antibacterial activity of extracts of leaves of bleeding heart vine and neem leaves and to determine the best concentration in inhibiting the pathogenic bacterium Ralstolnia solanacearum which causes wilt disease in chili plants. This research was carried out by testing neem leaf extract and bleeding heart vine leaf extract with concentrations of 100%, 50%, 25%, 12.5% and 6.25% against Ralstonia solanacearum bacteria using disc diffusion and well diffusion methods. Preparation of the extract using the maceration method and 96% ethanol solvent. The results of the antibacterial activity test on the disc diffusion method showed that the inhibition zones were classified as medium for both extracts. In this study, the neem extract had a wider inhibition zone of 8.41 mm at a concentration of 100% than the extract of the betel nut with a width of 7,82 mm. Neem and bleeding heart vine extracts have antibacterial activity, however, further research is needed to determine the best solvent that can support the antibacterial activity of neem and bleeding heart vine extracts.
Key findings : Azadirachta indica, Clerodendrum thomsoniae, disc diffusion, well diffusion, Ralstonia solanacearum,.
