Tingkat Hunian Beruang Madu (Helarctos Malayanus) Di Kawasan Restorasi Pt. Gan, Semenanjung Kampar, Riau
ABSTRACT
Sun bear with vulnerable status and high dependency to habitats now facing high habitat loss. Occupancy approaching with presence/absence method was used, since less sun bear information in PT. GAN. The objective of this research is to provide information about sun bear and its habitat use in PT. GAN, which leads to better sun bear conservation as well. Vegetation type vary among PT. GAN is represented by 12 transects, then divided by 10 grids each transect. The 64 encounters from 120 grids were founded. Model selection by Akaike Index Criterion (AIC), choose “E.sw” model with 0,924 occupancy rate, and tree diversity covariate, as best model. Influence of vegetation different represented by occupancy rate of each transect, with range 0,734 – 0,967. Covariate analysis chooses in the stands of vegetation and total trees with pole forest vegetation positively correlated. The reason was stand of vegetation influences the sun bear’s viability, meanwhile trees provide feed and shelter. The tree diversity and tree activity with riparian vegetation ideally support sun bear’s viability, but otherwise, these parameters have negatively correlated. High diversity in riparian invite more competitors for sun bear, low occupancy rate in riparian also influenced by anthropogenic factor, like transportation, even settlement.
