Ritme Aktivitas Terbang Harian Geniotrigona Thoracica Dalam Pemeliharaan Di Kebun Buah Kandi Sawahlunto Sumatera Barat
ABSTRACT
Geniotrigona thoracica is a type of stingless bee that is now in great demand and kept by local breeders, one of which is in Kandi Orchards, Sawahlunto, West Sumatra. This stingless bee is also known as galo-galo (Sumatra). The productivity of galo-galo produces honey and propolis which is determined by the activities of the workers so the more active the galo-galoes are, the more honey and propolis are produced. This research was conducted in March 2021 at Kandi Orchard, Sawahlunto. The purpose of this study was to examine the flight activity of Geniotrigona thoracica in relation to daily time and environmental factors (air temperature, humidity and light intensity), and to see the source of food. Two colonies were observed hourly for 5 minutes from 06.00 am to 18.00 pm. Transect observations were also carried out to see the distribution of galo-galo feed vegetation. The results showed that the activity of flying in and out of the nest on Geniotrigona thoracica obtained that the highest activity in the nest occurred at 11.30 am and the highest activity out of the nest occurred at 11.30 am WIB. Correlation analysis between environmental factors and flight activity in each colony showed a different correlation, but tended to be positively correlated with temperature and light intensity. The results of the analysis of vegetation on the three transects found 18 different families that have the potential as a source of galo-galo feed. The tree level analysis was dominated by Acacia auriculiformis (105,1), the sapling was dominated by Hylocereus undatus (151), and the seedlings were dominated by Pseuderanthemum reticulatum (169,6) which were sorted by the highest value index.
