Analisis Konsentrasi Gas Carbon Monoksida (Co) Dan Nitrogen Oksida (Nox) Dari Aktivitas Pembakaran Briket Ampas Sagu

ABSTRACT
Based on data from the Central Statistics Agency for 2021, sago plantations in Meranti Islands Regency have an area of 40,150 hectares, with a total production of 247,010 tonnes. Referring to Nuraini's research in 2015, it is known that the sago processing process will produce around 48% starch and the remaining product is in the form of sago pulp which becomes waste. From 1 ton of sago can produce about 520 kg of sago waste. Sago dregs is a waste resulting from the processing of sago starch and is not used optimally. In this research, processing of sago pulp into briquettes was carried out with the aim of knowing the characteristics of briquettes, CO and NOx concentrations, the effect of bed height on CO and NOx concentrations produced from burning sago pulp briquettes, as well as combustion characteristics. Measurement of CO and NOx concentrations using an impinger with variations in bed height, namely 1/3, 1/2, 2/3 of the height of the combustion chamber. The results of this study showed that the content of water, ash, volatile matter, and the calorific value of sago pulp briquettes were 8.22%, 22.01%, 30.51% and 4,599 cal/gr. Combustion characteristics for the highest combustion rate results, namely a variation of 2/3 of the combustion chamber height of 2.90 grams/minute. For the lowest CO and NOx concentrations, namely bed height 2/3 and 1/3 of 0.26 ppm and 0.093 ppm, CO is below the quality standard according to Minister of Health Regulation No. 1077 in 2011 and NOx is close to the quality standard. Based on the results of the study it was concluded that the higher the stove bed, the more CO and NOx concentrations produced and the higher the combustion rate.
