Prarancangan Pabrik Asam Laktat Dari Molases Dengan Desain Alat Utama Reaktor Fermentasi (R-101)
ABSTRACT
Indonesia as a developing country currently is trying to fulfill the needs of various chemicals to accelerate industrialization process. The need for lactic acid in Indonesia is currently still met by imports. Based on BPS 2021 data, total lactic acid imports in 2020 is amounted to 8,308,802 Kg. Therefore, efforts are needed to develop domestic lactic acid production to reduce dependence on lactic acid imports. Lactic acid or 2-hydroxypropanoic acid (CH3CHOHCOOH) is a versatile compound widely used for aromas and preservatives in the food, pharmaceutical, cosmetic, detergent, and dairy industries. Lactic acid is also a raw material for the biodegradable polymer industry, plant growth regulators, and environmentally friendly solvents. Lactic acid can be obtained by the method of fermentation of molasses. The fementation process is carried out using a batch-type fermentation reactor with a height of 4.2 m and a diameter of 3.2 m. A lactic acid plant is planned to stand in the industrial area of Situbondo, East Java with a capacity of 6,000 tons / year. Total Capital Investment (TCI) in the predesign of this lactic acid plant amounted to Rp275,847,121,653. Based on the results of economic analysis, this lactic acid plant is feasible to be established with a BEP value of 45%, ROI of 21.58%, IRR of 22.68%, and PBP for 3.29 years.
