Prarancangan Pabrik Etilen Glikol Dari Etilen Oksida Dan Air Proses Hidrasi Non Katalitik Dengan Desain Alat Utama Kolom Destilasi Dietilen Glikol (D-102)
ABSTRACT
Ethylene glycol with the molecular formula C2H6O2 is a colorless and odorless liquid, relatively volatile with low viscosity. Ethylene glycol is used mainly as an antifreeze in car radiators and as a raw material for the manufacture of polyester fibers, besides that as an auxiliary material in the latex industry and coolant in compressors. The main raw materials used in the manufacture of Ethylene Glycol by Non Catalytic Hydration process are Ethylene Oxide and Water. This plant is planned to operate for 330 days per year and work continuously for 24 hours / day with a capacity of 500,000 tons / year which will be established in the city of Cilegon, Banten. The company form chosen is a Limited Liability Company (PT) with a line and staff organization system. The employee work system is based on the division of working hours consisting of shift and non-shift employees. The design of the main equipment in this plant is the Distillation Column (D-102) which functions as a separation device also functions as a tool to purify the main product, namely Ethylene Glycol monomer. In the distillation tower, a temperature of 106℃ and a pressure of 1 atm are used. The economic analysis in this plant design shows that this plant is feasible to be established. With a Break Event Point (BEP) value is 36%, Pay Out Time (POT) for 1 year, Rate of Investment (ROI) is 70.31%, and Interest Rate of Return (IRR) is 22.824%.
