Prarancangan Pabrik Asam Formiat Dengan Metode Oksidasi Formaldehid Dengan Desain Alat Utama Flash Drum
Formic or methanoic acid is one of the simplest carboxylic acids with the molecular formula CH2O2. Formic acid is an important organic product that is widely used in the pharmaceutical industry, leather, cellulose industry in the production of pentaerythritol, latex, and as a preservative for feed ingredients in agriculture. The main raw materials used are formaldehyde and oxygen using the formaldehyde oxidation process method. This factory is planned to operate for 330 days per year and work continuously 24 hours/day with a capacity of 5,000 tons/year which will be established in the city of Cilegon, Banten. The company form chosen is a Limited Liability Company (PT) with a line and staff organizational system. The employee work system is based on the division of working hours consisting of shift and non-shift employees. The main equipment design in this factory is a Flash Drum which functions to separate formic acid from the by-products output from the formaldehyde oxidation reactor (R-102). This Flash Drum is operated at a pressure of 1 atm and a temperature of 87oC. Economic analysis in the design of this factory shows that this factory is feasible to build. With a Break Event Point (BEP) value of 30%, Pay Back Period (PBP) of 2.6 years, Rate of Investment (ROI) of 33.94%, and Interest Rate of Return (IRR) of 22.58%.
